WR Jerry Rice is traded to the Seattle Seahawks (Seahawks.com) |
 | Brown signs with Bucs | Football |

After 16 years of service for the Raiders (during which he went to the Pro Bowl nine-times), Tim Brown was released for salary cap reasons. He was quickly snapped up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are depleted at the wide reciever position. Brown, 39, is second on the all-time receiving yards list with 14,734 (behind former teamate Jerry Rice), third in receptions (1,070), and has 99 career touchdowns. While Tim is still a good reciever, I'm wary of the Bucs offense (and defense this year, as well) and I can't help but predict a major drop off in Brown's numbers. Known as Mr. Raider for his many years of service with only team he's ever played for, Tim moves on for the first time in his career -- to an inferior offensive team. Full

Just barely weeks after Ricky Williams decides to screw the Miami Dolphins, David Boston (one of their leading wide receivers) goes down with a knee injury. He's expected to miss the entire season after the surgury. There isn't much else that can go wrong with the Dolphins preseason. Full

Last Year: Didn’t come to anyone’s surprise that the Chargers were again dead last in the NFL with a dismal 4-12 record. Nothing has quite worked out for the Bolts since their Super Bowl run back in ’95. Full

 | Olerud in Pinstripes | Baseball |
»Posted by FunkyMoron at 06:15:52 PM on August 03, 2004 |
Hard-hat wearing Gold Glove winning John Olerud has signed with the New York Yankees. He'll take over the starting first base job, replacing Tony Clark. Olerud has played for Seattle since 2000, and before that Toronto and the Mets -- never spending one day in the minor leagues. It was a sad day when Olerud was released by the M's (him being one of my favorite players and all), but that is topped by him deciding to join the "Evil Empire". Despite that, best wishes to John Olerud in the future! Full

When it comes to offense in baseball, there is one statistic that matters most – the Run. It doesn’t matter how many home runs a team hits, how many bases it swipes, how many times it strikes out, if it scores more runs than the other team, it wins. The only true comparison of an team’s offense is how many runs it scores. Full

With the recent acquisition of Nomar Garciaparra by the Cubbies, the recent Loaiza/Contreras swap has received little attention.
I'm here to explain why it shouldn't. Full
